Lorenzo Kirk is a Birmingham-based children’s book author, illustrator, and designer who has spent more than 25 years creating colorful characters, imaginative worlds, and engaging visual stories.

With a background in fine arts and design, Lorenzo combines playful storytelling with expressive illustrations to create books that entertain young readers while encouraging curiosity, kindness, and confidence. His debut picture book, The Mermaid & the Grumpy Old Clam, uses humor, rhyme, and heart to explore themes of empathy, teamwork, and emotional understanding.

Passionate about early literacy and creativity, Lorenzo believes stories have the power to help children see themselves as brave, thoughtful, and full of potential. Whether visiting classrooms, speaking with families, or creating new adventures on the page, his goal is always the same: to inspire children to imagine boldly and fall in love with reading.
